Deputies: Mom left 7-year-old in hotel room while she went to horror movie

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — A woman was arrested and charged with child neglect after Osceola County deputies said they found her 7-year-old son alone in a hotel room.

Deputies said Natalie Figueroa, 29, left her son alone when she went to see a movie at a theater about 20 minutes from the hotel.

According to deputies, they found the child when they responded to a disconnected 911 call from the hotel Saturday.

Deputies said when they went to the hotel room where the call originated, the child answered the door.

According to deputies, the child told them his mother and her boyfriend had gone to see a movie.

Deputies said there were opened cans of beer in the room that were within the child's reach.

Figueroa said she thought her boyfriend's brother was watching her son at the Rodeway Inn on W. Irlo Bronson Highway, and that she didn't take her son with her because she was going to see a horror movie.

Figueroa was arrested when she returned to the hotel after watching the movie, deputies said.
