Documents reveal details about killing of food bank worker

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Eyewitness News has learned more details about an Orange County homicide case in which a teenager was arrested.

Kenneth "Richard" Kepple, 46, was found dead in his Conway Road apartment in May. A few weeks later, Zachary Berry, 17, was charged with second-degree murder.

Kepple was a well-liked employee at the Community Food and Outreach Center in Orlando. His body was found after he didn't show up for work, authorities said.

"I think it's justice. And when I heard that was a possibility, you know, my belief at that age is he should be tried as an adult," an unidentified neighbor said.

The state will prosecute Berry as an adult, WFTV found out. He was transferred to the Orange County Jail last week.

Arrest documents reveal that the victim and suspect knew each other and at one time were boyfriends. Berry is accused of killing Kepple after showing up at his apartment looking for money and drugs. The teenager then allegedly stole the victim's car and fled the area.

"We kind of figured he knew him because the car situation, being stolen. We kind of figured it was personal," a neighbor said.

According to court documents, Berry contacted a friend afterward and said he had killed someone. He's being held at the Orange County Jail without bond.
