FBI investigates after churches vandalized with hate symbols

MELBOURNE, Fla. — The FBI is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification and arrests of those responsible for multiple vandalism incidents at the Shiloh Christian Center, New Shiloh Christian Center and the Central Baptist Church in Melbourne.

The churches have been the target of hate crimes, including arson, burglary, grand theft and vandalism.

The FBI has partnered with the Melbourne Police Department and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to find the vandals.

Investigators said they believe the same individuals are responsible for the criminal acts at all three sites.

The incidents occurred on the following dates and locations:

  • Feb. 16 - New Shiloh Christian Center at 3900 Sarno Road
  • March 24- Shiloh Christian Center at 155 East University
  • March 24- Central Baptist Church at 2503 Country Club Road
  • July 12- New Shiloh Christian Center at 3900 Sarno Road

The suspects vandalized church property with hateful graffiti, including Nazi symbols and other hate language.

An eagle statue was stolen from the New Shiloh Christian Center. The FBI is seeking any information on the whereabouts of the statue.

FBI agents said they would like to speak with anyone who is familiar with the graffiti images discovered at two of the churches.
