First shipment of donated supplies leaves Belle Isle City Hall for Texas

BELLE ISLE, Fla. — The first shipment of supplies donated to help Hurricane Harvey victims left Belle Isle City Hall Sunday afternoon.

People turned out in force at the Belle Isle City Hall Saturday to donate items for Hurricane Harvey victims in Texas.

Organizers of the donation drive are collecting everything from water to diapers.

Randy Ross, who organized the event, said they’re on their way to filling up five semitrucks full of supplies to send to Harvey victims.

“By partnering with the disaster relief side of Americorps and with a team of volunteers from Orange and Lake counties escorting the donations to Texas, we can ensure the community's donations will make it directly into the hands of those in need," said Ross.
