Florida Barnes & Noble bandit sent to federal prison for shoplifting

TRENTON, N.J. — A 50-year-old Port Orange man will be spending the next 41 months in federal prison after he was sentenced this week for stealing nearly $400,000 worth of merchandise from Barnes & Noble stores around the country, officials said.

Dominick James Izzo, also of Piscataway, New Jersey, admitted to investigators that he shoplifted Barnes & Noble exclusively, using a foil-lined “booster bag.”

He would then sell the items on eBay, but did not report the income on his taxes, court documents show.

Along with being charged in the Barnes & Noble thefts, Izzo was also charged with tax evasion.

The IRS reports that Izzo owes the government more than $67,000 in back taxes.

The judge in the case also ordered Izzo to pay restitution of $207,000.
