Lake County: Road rage shooting leaves one injured, gunman on the loose

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — One person has been released from the hospital after he was shot Thursday at a Lake County intersection following a road-rage shooting, deputies said.

The shooting happened around 4 p.m. at the intersection of Lake Louisa and Hammock Ridge roads in Clermont.

Scott Cutler, 20, of Leesburg, said the shooting happened about a half a mile away from the intersection.

Cutler said he had the green light and went through an intersection at the same time that a guy in a silver BMW with a black top convertible ran a red light.

"According to the victim, he felt he was followed, and as he was getting ready to turn off, that's when the suspect shot into his vehicle," said Sgt. Fred Jones with the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

Nearby resident Robert Guzman said he was also in a road-rage incident near the same intersection.

“He started cursing me out, saying, ‘What are you (going to) do?’” said Guzman.

Guzman didn’t report the confrontation to law enforcement officials but said he plans to after hearing about the shooting.

“It’s kind of scary because you never think that would happen in your neighborhood,” he said. “I mean, these are million-dollar homes in there. You never think something like that will happen.”

Deputies are still searching for the gunman.
