SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. — A 76-year-old Sumter County woman was arrested and charged with DUI after she admitted to investigators that she was “intoxicated” and “should not be driving,” Sumter County deputies said.
Investigators said they received a call at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday about an incident at 3560 Buena Vista Blvd. in Wildwood.
Deputies said when they arrived, personnel from Rural Metro Ambulance services were standing directly in front of Joy Loraine Hunt’s vehicle.
Ambulance service personnel said they saw Hunt driving with two flat tires in the wrong direction on Buena Vista Boulevard.
When the EMTs talked to Hunt, they said she appeared to be extremely intoxicated and had a strong odor of alcohol coming from her body.
EMTs got Hunt out of the vehicle and moved it off the road.
Hunt told deputies that she was at the bar, where she drank a lot, and said she “shouldn’t be driving," authorities said.
Hunt failed several field sobriety tests, deputies said. During one of the exercises, Hunt said, “I’m too drunk to do that; just take me to jail," deputies said.
Hunt took two Breathalyzer tests and blew .181 percent, deputies said.
