Court records reveal investigators are closer to figuring out how everything happened, and it's partly due to information that came from a jail inmate who said the suspect confessed the crime to him.

The suspect, Rafael Gonzalez, remains in the Orange County Jail.

This Orlando Police Department's supplemental report to the court records said an inmate, whose name is redacted but who was in jail for robbery, called Crimeline.

The inmate stated he was in a cell next to Gonzalez and that Gonzalez spoke about raping the victim and then punching her in the face.

The tipster said Gonzalez continued to rape the victim afterward.

The inmate went on to say, "When he realized the victim was dead, he began to dismember her using a machete and little hand saw."

Investigators spent days at Gonzalez’s home collecting evidence, including cleaning supplies and flooring from one of the bedrooms.

Court records show detectives also collected tools Gonzalez used for his lawn care job, including a machete, a small folding saw and a small hand saw.

Records don't reveal what was used to dismember the body.

Detectives put the inmate who called Crimeline to work as a soy, He wore a jumpsuit with a small recorder in it while he was in the call with Gonzalez.

But police said the suspect never talked about the victim.

Loved ones are planning to gather around Lake Underhill on Saturday in remembrance of Diggs.
