Judge ends hearing abruptly after constant interruptions from murder suspect Markeith Loyd

ORLANDO, Fla. — Apparently wanting to avoid the debacle like Thursday's court hearing for murder suspect Markeith Loyd, an Orange County judge kept his Friday appearance brief.

Loyd was in court Friday for a first appearance on charges connected with the Jan. 9 shooting death of Orlando Police Lt. Debra Clayton.

Loyd's Thursday appearance was in connection to the December shooting death of his pregnant ex-girlfriend, Sade Dixon.

In contrast to his appearance the day before when Loyd went on a profanity-laced tirade during his court appearance, he was much more subdued on Friday.

He continued to be uncooperative with the judge, though, refusing to give his name when she asked and repeatedly asking to know hers.

"I ain't no Markeith Loyd," he said. "Who are you?"

As the judge read out the charges, Loyd continued to speak over her and ask for her name.

"The lady in the black dress, can I have your name, please?" he asked.

The judge had to ask Loyd twice if he wanted to be assigned a public defender before he responded.

He did not answer the question, though.

"If you have a claim against me, may I ask what your name is, ma'am?" he asked.

The judge continued through the interruptions, ordered Loyd held without bond and abruptly ended the hearing.

"This first appearance is over," she said. "Good luck, Mr. Loyd."
