Judge orders prosecution to produce more information in Seminole County child porn case

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — An attorney for a 23-year-old Oviedo man facing child pornography charges in Seminole County convinced a judge Thursday to compel prosecutors to release more information on his client’s charges.

Keith Freerksen was arrested in late 2016 on 10 counts of possession of child pornography after investigators received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, officials said.

A search of Freerksen’s computer revealed several files that investigators said they considered child pornography.

That is not enough information on the files to establish probable cause, Freerksen’s attorney said.

“In this case, there is nothing to delineate what the officer looked at,” he said. “He is just saying he looked at stuff that is considered child pornography.”

Prosecutors argued that Freerksen admitted that the files were child pornography and he kept them so he could trade them with other individuals in the future.

The judge sided with Freerksen’s attorney, though, and ordered prosecutors to produce more information on what the officers saw to determine probable cause.

The State Attorney’s Office was given 24 hours to produce the information.

Freerksen was being held in lieu of a $350,000 bond in the case.
