"Junk Man" arrested on felony littering charges

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — The “Junk Man” of Seminole County is in jail on felony charges following years of fighting with the county over trash in his yard.

The county hauled away 31 tons of trash, including a kitchen sink, from Alan Davis’ Altamonte Springs property in September.

Davis was arrested on charges of felony littering, the same charge he was arrested for in 2000.

Neighbor Maris Friedersdorf moved in next door to Davis two months after the order by special magistrate for the removal of nearly $2 million in code enforcement fines and said she was surprised someone could have that much trash on their property.

The September cleanup was the second time the county has stepped in to remove the trash from Davis’ property.

“The fact that someone would have to do that (is) kind of crazy,” Friedersdorf said.

Davis’ bail posted his bond late Wednesday night, which was set at $3,000.
