Kissimmee police seek person of interest in officer shooting

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Kissimmee police are looking for a person of interest in relation to the investigation of two officers who were fatally shot Friday night.

Detectives said they need to speak with Maribel Gonzalez King, but would not provide further details why.

Police emphasized that King is not a suspect. She is known to frequent the McLaren Circle area, where the shooting took place.

Kissimmee police Officer Matthew Baxter and Sgt. Sam Howard were shot in a scuffle at about 9:30 p.m. Friday at Palmway and East Cypress streets near East Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway and North Main Street, Kissimmee police Chief Jeff O’Dellsaid.

Baxter died of his injuries at the scene. Howard succumbed to his injuries at Osceola Regional Medical Center Saturday.

Kissimmee police identified Everett Glenn Miller, 45, as the suspect in the fatal shooting of two police officers.
He was arrested and later charged with premeditated first-degree murder in connection with Baxter's death. No word yet on what charges he will face in connection with Howard's death.
