Lake County postal carrier arrested on mail theft charges, authorities say

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — A postal carrier in Lake County faces charges of stealing mail she was supposed to be delivering, authorities said.

Sandra Worster, 50, was arrested Tuesday.

Eyewitness News reported in November when customers on Clear Lake Drive complained their packages and fliers never arrived.

“That’s a federal offense. I worked for the post office myself years ago and you know you don’t monkey with the government,” said resident Shelley Taylor.

The allegations stemmed from 2015-2016 after customers complained they weren't receiving their mail in Eustis.

It’s unclear how many packages or letters Worster is accused of taking, officials said, but she was a contract employee.

Taylor told Channel 9's Julie Salomone she once mailed a gift card to her granddaughter, but she never received it.

Taylor said her daughter ordered something online and the package never arrived.

Federal agents later found the stolen mail and returned it to Taylor.

She also noticed other things missing like business fliers.

Federal documents do not detail what she did after allegedly stealing the mail but Worster faces federal charges.
