DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — The man accused in the fatal hit-and-run of a motorcycle rider in Daytona Beach has been charged with second-degree murder.
Police said Christopher Moore, 19, purposely struck and killed Roger Martin, 41, on Fairview Avenue after an argument outside a bar.
Moore will remain in jail on no bond, which Martin's family said it a relief to them after he was given a $40,000 bond Wednesday when he was only charged with leaving the scene of a crash with a death.
"I definitely do think he deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison. I do," Heather Stratta, the mother of Martin's four children, said.
Investigators said Moore told his friends that no one messes with his "murder gang" before he allegedly ran over Martin.
Moore's new charge and denied bail from a judge means he will likely miss is high school graduation.
"My kids have to graduate (and) get married without their father and it's not fair for him to graduate, you know?" Stratta said.
Moore was arrested in Georgia a week ago.
