MELBOURNE, Fla. — A man was arrested Thursday after police said he threatened a family member with a hammer and a gun inside a Melbourne home.
Police said in an incident report that Daniel Cooper, 34, “engaged in contact with a family member who was deemed a protected party as the result of previous domestic violence incident.”
Cooper was in the process of stealing cash from a family member’s safe when officers arrived at the home, police said.
Cooper escaped through a bathroom window, but was later arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, aggravated assault with a weapon, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and violation of a domestic violence injunction.
