Cops: Man tried to rob Lowes store; Stole golf cart from nearby nudist colony

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Investigators said they arrested Milton Hodges after a crime spree in Osceola County on Wednesday.

Deputies said Hodges first tried to rob a Lowes store on Pleasant Hill Road. They said he attacked a cashier in the garden section and tried to steal some cash from the register.

"He demanded he open the cash register. When he didn't, he put a knife or what he thought was scissors up to his neck. The cashier got away," Twis Lizasuain with the Osceola County Sheriff's Office said.

Surveillance video, only obtained by WFTV, showed Hodges also attacked another cashier. Several customers and employees then chased him out of the store.

"He tried to run across Pleasant Hill Road, and a white pickup truck was blocking his way, so he walked up to that pickup truck driver and punched him in the face," Lizasuain said.

Officials said the driver was not hurt.

Deputies said Hodges then stole a golf cart from a nudist community near the Lowes.

By that time, deputies were already at the scene to make the arrest.

Hodges is charged with attempted robbery and attempted battery.

WFTV also found out Hodges was wanted out of Clay County, near Jacksonville for a robbery.
