Man arrested after shots fired at Orlando Police Department substation, officials say

ORLANDO, Fla. — One man was arrested Saturday after several gunshots were fired at an Orlando Police Department substation on Primrose Avenue, officers said.

An OPD community service officer was in front of the substation with he heard several gunshots at about 4:30 a.m., investigators said.

Seconds later, the officer saw a green Ford Explorer with several occupants driving south on Primrose Avenue near East Colonial Drive.

The occupants of the vehicle then fired several rounds from inside the SUV, causing the officer to take cover, investigators said.

The officer was not injured in the incident.

The officer called for backup and the SUV was located as it was entering State Road 408 from Bumby Avenue.

It was pulled over on South Orange Blossom Trail just south of Interstate 4 and three males were detained, officers said.

Investigators said they found a 9mm Smith and Wesson handgun with spend shell casings inside the SUV.

One of the three, Eduardo Palacios, 28, was arrested and is facing charges of aggravated assault with a firearm, improper exhibition of a weapon or firearm and carrying a concealed weapon.

Several bullet holes were found in the fences at the Primrose substation but the officer’s vehicle was not hit, investigators said.
