Man dies in crash on I-95 near Ormond Beach

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A 50-year-old St. Augustine man died Sunday afternoon in a crash on Interstate 95 near Ormond Beach, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash, which involved two vehicles, happened shortly after 3 p.m. near mile marker 275, Sgt. Kim Montes said.

Troopers were told by witnesses that the man was driving northbound on the interstate in the center lane when he attempted to change lanes but noticed there was traffic and tried to get back in the center lane.

The front of his Chevy pickup truck struck the back of another car, causing his vehicle to go off the road and overturn.

The man who died wasn't immediately identified.

The driver and passenger in the second vehicle had minor injuries.

Montes said one northbound lane was closed so troopers could investigate the crash.

No other details were given.
