Friday morning shooting marks fourth in first week of June in Orange County

ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando police are trying to figure out what led to a shooting at the Avalon apartment complex on Semoran Boulevard.

Jordan Suarez, 23, was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound, police said.

Crime scene tape blocked off the complex Friday and investigators searched cars of residents waiting to get back to their homes.

"In my time living here, I have never really seen anything like this," said resident Edgar Santana.

According to Orlando police, officers arrived just after midnight and found Suarez with a gunshot wound to his chest.

Officers searched for any persons of interest throughout the night with the help of Orange County Sheriff deputies, but have yet to pin point a suspect.

"It is a surprise and it makes you think about where you are living at," said Santana. "They [officers] were like, 'We can't really give you any information, but we can't let you in.'"

As residents eventually were allowed back to their homes, officers were seen detaining person after person while they searched for clues as to what led up to the shooting.

Officers said Suarez is not cooperating with police.

The shooting makes it the fourth one in the first week of June.
