FDLE: Man dies at hospital after shooting deputy outside Ocala gas station

MARION COUNTY, Fla. — A man who was shot after opening fire on Marion County deputies during a brief standoff outside an Ocala gas station Wednesday evening has died, authorities said.

According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Cristiaan Dubrino, 31, died at the hospital.

Marion County Sheriff's spokesman Ryan Robbins said Sgt. Daniel Trammell was also shot in the leg during the shooting at the Marathon Kangaroo gas station no Northeast 20th Street.

Deputies arrived at the gas station after receiving a 911 call about an armed man inside a vehicle.

Robbins said Dubrino told deputies he had three firearms and was going to kill himself and officers.

"We saw him pointing a gun to his head, and there were deputies around the corner of the store pointing their guns at him," said a witness.

Authorities said that at one point, Dubrino got out of the vehicle and paced back and forth before pointing gun at deputies, while holding another to his head.

"The officers, they tried to talk him out of using the gun, put down the gun, for several minutes. We heard one shot and the officers returned fire. So, that was more than 30 shots," said another witness.

Dubrino then opened fire, officers said.

Trammell was released from the hospital.

Dubrino was on probation for fleeing and resisting arrest. He had been arrested before in Marion County for kidnapping, battery and assault with a deadly weapon.
