Mother, child escape injury from falling tree on moving vehicle, Ocala police say

A tree fell onto a moving vehicle in Ocala Wednesday, police said

MARION COUNTY, Fla. — A mother and her child escaped injury Wednesday when a tree fell on their moving vehicle, Ocala police said.

The mother was driving on the 2200 block of NE 19th Avenue in Ocala at 7:19 p.m. when the tree fell onto the hood of the Dodge, police said.

The mother and child were shaken, but not hurt, police said. The ages of the mother and child were not released.

The mother skidded 25 feet to avoid further injury, police said. The Dodge was totaled.

Crews are still in the area working to remove the fallen tree.

Certified meteorologist Tom Terry said the Ocala area did not see a lot of severe weather Wednesday.
