Mother pleads for help in finding son's killer

ORLANDO, Fla. — The mother of a man who was shot and killed in a downtown Orlando parking garage is pleading for an arrest in the case.

Pedro Manuel Gallardo, 23, was shot to death in June in the garage off Central Boulevard, near Orange Avenue.

Investigators said they know who did it, but they can't find him.

"I pray to God that they get him," said Gallardo's mother, Rebecca Sanchez.

She's going door to door posting flyers of 25-year-old Ronny Batista.

He is the man police say killed Gallardo.

"I just want justice," said Sanchez.

She said Gallardo was with a group of friends leaving a birthday party.

Batista reportedly was mad that one of Gallaro's friends had looked at him the wrong way in the downtown parking garage.

The gunman got a gun out of the trunk of a car and shot him in the back of his neck.

"He shattered his spinal cord, shattered his jaw," said Sanchez. "Pedro was on life support for six days. He never opened his eyes for me."

Witnesses told police the shooter had been trying to start fights with other people in the garage.

"After the shooting, the gunman left his car here in the garage," said Sanchez.

Sanchez said one thing that helped police figure out who the gunman is was his fingerprints on his car.

"He needs to pay for what he did," said Sanchez.

Batista has been in trouble with the law before. Most recently he was convicted of drug trafficking.

"If his mom is seeing this, any of his family members, he needs to turn himself in. This is my baby I'm talking about. My son was only 23 years old," said Sanchez.

There is a cash reward for information leading to Batista's arrest.

Gallardo's family said his death helped save six lives because he was an organ donor.
