Motorcycle rider killed in Marion County crash, troopers say

MARION COUNTY, Fla. — A 25-year-old motorcycle rider died Wednesday in a crash on Highway 25 in Marion County, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said.

Kenneth Dean Fox Jr., of Umatilla, was riding his 2016 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle south on Highway 25 at a high rate of speed at about 10:10 p.m. when he lost control, troopers said.

While negotiating a curve, near SE 143^rd Street, he crossed the center line and drove onto the grass shoulder where he was thrown from the motorcycle, FHP said.

He tumbled more than 100 feet before finally coming to a stop on the shoulder, troopers said.

Fox was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was not wearing a helmet, troopers said.
