Pine Hills apartment shooting leaves 2 dead, another injured

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies are investigating a shooting at a Pine Hills apartment that left two people dead and a third person hospitalized Tuesday afternoon.

The triple shooting happened shortly after 1 p.m. at the Misty Oaks apartments near Colonial Drive and Hiawassee Road, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators said one of the victims, a woman, called 911 and said she had been shot. When deputies arrived, they found a man and another woman dead inside one of the apartments.

"It's scary," said Jazmin Carrero, a resident at the complex. "I'm kind of happy we're moving out soon."

The victims killed in Tuesday's shootings have been identified as Amanda Johnson, 27, and Ron Williams, 32. The injured woman’s name has not been released.

"Walking to the corner store and I heard screaming," resident Ciera Grant said of the shooting.

Grant said she also wants to move out of the Misty Oaks complex, which deputies frequent due to criminal activity. It's also the location of a fatal apartment fire that left two children and a woman dead in March. Their deaths were later ruled homicides.

"I have to get away because I have a house full of children," said Grant.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office will not say if the woman who survived the shooting is a victim or suspect. She's in serious condition at Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Authorities said the three knew each other, but they haven’t released any other details in the investigation.

Some residents at the apartment complex said they saw the male victim regularly.

"I see this guy coming and going every day," said resident Ciera Grant. "He seemed like a pretty nice guy, you know."

"We believe that something suspicious obviously happened here," said Jane Watrel of the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Detectives served a search warrant overnight but they have not said what they were looking for or what they took away from the scene.

Anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area is asked to contact authorities.
