Neighbors shocked by home invasion double murder in Marion County

MARION cOUNTY, Fla. — Residents in Weirsdale were still in shock Monday after a weekend home invasion that left two people dead and two suspects who remained on the loose, deputies said.

The incident was reported at about 8:45 a.m. Sunday at a home on SE 151st Place Road in Weirsdale near Lake Weir, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said.

Investigators said two masked individuals broke into the home and opened fire, killing Bailey Zylo, 18, and Andy Fockler, 38.

Other family members were in the home but were unhurt, deputies said.

“I can’t believe what happened,” one neighbor said. “It’s terrible. I’ve lived here for 20 years and we haven’t had anything like this.

“It’s unthinkable.”

Investigators remained at the home Monday, looking for clues and collecting evidence.

Deputies were calling the home invasion a robbery, but did not release what had been stolen.

Friends of Zylo called him a hard-working senior at Lake Weir High School who was set to graduate in a few months.

His schoolmates held a candlelight vigil for him at the school Sunday.

Fockler, Zylo’s step-father, worked at a local newspaper, officials said.

An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
