New documents show suspect in Orlando woman's murder case lied to police

ORLANDO, Fla. — New details have been released in the murder case of an Orlando woman who was found dead in her downtown apartment.

Police said Stephen Duxbury, the security guard in jail for her alleged murder, lied to them about his involvement.

Hundreds of pages of documents in the case, including interviews with Duxbury hours after Sasha Samsudean, 27, was found dead, were released Thursday.

DNA evidence originally linked Duxbury to her body in October.

Detectives matched a fingerprint and shoe print found in her home at the Uptown Apartments where Duxbury worked as a security guard.

The newly released court documents said that Duxbury told investigators he was raped when he was 9 years old.

The now 33-year-old said he took his duties as a security guard seriously and was given a raise when he thought about quitting because of his long work commute from Volusia County.

During a lie-detector test, Duxbury was asked if he went inside Samsudean’s apartment and if he caused her death, or knew how she died.

He replied no to all the questions.

Investigators said they caught him on video with garbage bags similar to the ones found in the young woman’s apartment.

When asked about the garbage bags, Duxbury said he found them in the hallway.

Investigators said the tests show he was lying.

The documents also said a friend has texted her asking if she was alive and that he was worried about her the night she was killed.
