ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A heavy law enforcement presence remained at the home at the man who shot and killed five people at his former workplace on Monday before turning the gun on himself.
Officers obtained a search warrant to enter his home in the Lake of the Woods Mobile Home community in the Fern Park area of Seminole County.
The hope is that something in the home will shed more light onto what motivated John Neumann Jr. to open fire Monday at Fiamma Inc., a manufacturer of RV awnings, on Forsyth Road near Hanging Moss Road.

A woman who lives in Neumann’s neighborhood, who only wanted to be identified as Elizabeth, said she always thought something wasn’t quite right with Neumann’s behavior.

“He seemed to be angry. He seemed like he complained a lot. He seemed like he had something wrong,” she said.

In the years since hie last arrest, he’s had trouble at work.
“He just said, ‘I was fired,’ and I said, ‘Why were you fired?’ And he said, ‘I don’t want to say,’” Elizabeth said. “What is said is that all these innocent people had to die.”
Don Pinson said he had been friends with Neumann for nearly six years and the two were supposed to get together Sunday night, but Neumann canceled via text message.
“I don’t know if it was his plan at the time or not,” Pinson said.
He said Neumann was fired after starting a website to sell the company’s products that would have competed with Fiamma.
Pinson said Neumann was a good person who needed help.
“How do you know if they’re in trouble? Unless somebody says something, you know? You just don’t know,” he said.
Friends said he would get worked up over losing his job.
“His eyes would start flittering. His blood pressure would go up,” said Sam Anderson, a friend of Neumann’s.
Neumann was honorably discharged from the Army in 1999.
According to the sheriff’s office, he did not have a concealed weapons permit.
