ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Two people are dead after a shooting in Pine Hills, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies were called to the Caribbean Unity Club at 5324 Silver Star Road just before 3:30 a.m. for reports of a shooting.
Deputies said during a 10:15 a.m. news conference that some kind of fight happened inside the club and spilled into the parking lot.
One person was shot and killed in the parking lot; his name has not been released.
A second person, Juan Carlos Ilarraza, 26, was found at Princeton and John Young Parkway. He was taken to the hospital where he died, deputies said.
Deputies said they are questioning people, but need the community's help to determine what happened.
"We know there was a lot of individuals here. A lot of people were in the club. There was a lot of people in the parking lot, and we're trying to piece this together, because we have two individuals that are dead," said Capt. Angelo Nieves with the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
No one has been arrested for the shooting.
Three people have been killed in Orange County in less than 12 hours.
Hours after the club shooting, a group in Pine Hills went door-to-door urging their neighbors to stop the violence. Their motto is "Do not be silent, do not be violent."
"I wish it was a peaceful day, but I know if anything needs to be done, we need to be talking to the people who feel scared and want to get help," said Miles Mulrain Jr., with Let Your Voice Be Heard Inc.
