Orange County deputies on the lookout for couple who stole car during test drive

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Investigators were searching for a pair of people Wednesday who allegedly took off with a vehicle during a test drive in Orange County.

Surveillance video shows the pair when they went to Cars and More on East Colonial Drive Tuesday to test drive a 2008 Infiniti.

The business’s manager, who did not want to be identified because the two were still on the loose, said she was shaken by the incident.

“I just want to be able to trust people again,” she said.

According to the manager, a man and woman came into the store and showed her a stack of bills and claimed to have $3,000 to put down on the $10,000 car.

They wanted to take the car for a test drive and the man gave the manager his driver’s license, which investigators later found to be fake.

The manager didn’t go along for the test drive because she had a frightening experience last year when someone didn’t turn around when she told them to.

That’s when her boss told her it was better to lose a car than an employee, and started to allow solo test drives.

Cars and More sees about 15 test drives a day and in four years, no one has ever taken off with a vehicle, the manager said.

“I don’t know what else they’re planning to do, but I don’t feel safe anymore,” she said.

The car was found by investigators about 24 hours later located about 30 minutes away from the store.
