Orlando mother warns of Facebook shopping scam

An Orlando woman who thought she scored a bargain on a Christmas present for her toddler is warning other families to beware when ordering products from people selling on Facebook.
The woman, who asked not to be named, told Channel 9 that she tracked down a seller on Facebook who had listed an expensive toy car for a fraction of what it costs at the store.
She paid for the car and thought it was on the way after receiving a message from the seller.
“They Facebook messaged us stating it was en route and we should be receiving it shortly,” the victim said.
That was two months ago and the car still has not arrived.
The owner of the online store, Children’s Savings Store, stopped responding to Facebook messages and emails and eventually it became clear that the car was not coming.
The woman and her husband decided to file a police report.
The seller, who is listed as living in Orlando, did not respond to requests for comment from Channel 9.
Other people posted on social media about Children’s Savings Store with the same complaint.
The Better Business Bureau said it appears the store doesn’t actually exist.
In the meantime, the victim is out hundreds of dollars, though she is contesting the payment with her bank.

ORLANDO, Fla. — The BBB released the following statement about Children’s Savings Store:

“BBB is unable to locate the Children’s Savings Store, its ownership or its physical location. All attempts to communicate with the business have been unsuccessful. Consumers should exercise extreme caution when shopping online with previously unknown retailers.”
