Osceola convicted killer says: ‘You remind me of my ex-wife, I want to kill you'

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — New details have been released on Friday involving an Osceola County man convicted of killing his wife and most recently faces charges he sexually battered a St. Cloud woman.

Samuel Fertic, 45, is being held in the Osceola County Jail on no bond.

When Osceola County deputies tried to arrest Fertic on a warrant Thursday he refused to come out of the home, deputies said. Moments later, the home went up in flames and deputies found Fertic hiding underneath the burning home. He was later arrested.

“It appears as though he may have set that fire at that residence,” said Twis Lizasuain with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

Eyewitness News obtained the arrest affidavit of Fertic and allegations he physically and sexually abused a woman for hours.

A woman told detectives she went to Fertic’s home on Wednesday to borrow money from Fertic.

The woman said when she got to his house Fertic said, “You need to die. You remind me of my ex-wife, I’m going to kill you.” She said he told her she was “the devil, she possessed demons inside of her, and God wanted him to kill her."

The woman told detectives Fertic also ranted about other murder he had committed.

Fertic served a 10-year prison sentence on aggravated assault with a deadly weapon involving the killing of his ex-wife, Lisa King in 2001 in El Paso, Texas.

He has had a series of arrests both before and after King’s death and deputies said they’re concerned about the sexual battery case.

“It was a violent crime, she tried to get away and he had a machete with him so she felt like her life was threatened,” Lizasuain said.

Fertic took the victim to a friend’s house where she called 911, deputies said.

“My heart goes out to the family of this woman and I invite her or her family to reach out to me,” said Linda King, mother of Lisa King.

Eyewitness News obtained the arrest affidavit Lisa King filled out in 1998 after she and Samuel Fertic divorced. She accused her ex-husband of breaking her fingers, ribs, foot and giving her a black eye. She also said he threatened to kill her and “burn my parent’s home.”
