Person of interest wanted for questioning for missing Leesburg woman

LEESBURG, Fla. — Leesburg police said they would like to talk to David Mariotti, 34, about the disappearance of Bernadine Montgomery.

Police said he is only a person of interest.

Montgomery, 84, disappeared from her home on June 15 on Palmora Boulevard. Her vehicle was found empty at Lake Harris. Dive crews have searched the lake several times, but nothing was found.

Investigators have ruled her disappearance a homicide.

Jeremy Gentry was arrested last month on charges he stole Montgomery’s vehicle. He told police he doesn’t remember what happened to Montgomery because of his drug use.

He has since bonded out of jail.

Anyone with information on Mariotti’s whereabouts, contact Leesburg police at (352) 787-2121.
