Police investigate after man fatally shot in Melbourne

MELBOURNE, Fla. — Police in Melbourne said they're investigating the circumstances of a shooting that left one man dead early Sunday morning.

Officials said they received a 911 call reporting a shooting on Mathers Street around 2:15 a.m.

Officers arrived and found a man who had been shot. The victim was rushed to Holmes Regional Medical Center, where he died, police said.

The man's name hasn't been released. Police said the shooting remains under investigation.
