MOUNT DORA, Fla. — Police are trying to figure out what happened before a man was found dead outside a Lake County church Tuesday.
Jeremy Potter, 29, was found shot several times outside the Triumph the Brotherhood Church in Mount Dora.
Members of the congregation said they were shocked to see the crime scene tape around their church Tuesday.
Police want to find out what happened and who shot and killed the victim.
So far police say they don’t have a lot to go on and are asking the community for help.
Channel 9 found out Potter has been arrested numerous time before on drugs and battery charges.
Members of the church said Potter didn’t attend services there, but are sad he lost his life.

"Even if we don't know exactly who he is or was, it’s sad that anybody would shot somebody and just leave them like that," said Evelyn Andrews.

Mount Dora police don't see a lot of cases like this--their last homicide was in 2015.
