Police: Man repeatedly punched K-9, officer during struggle

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — An Orange County man is facing felony charges for battery on an Orlando police officer and his K-9, investigators said.

Authorities said when officers tried to question Alfred Mitchell about a home burglary on Ivey Lane, he ran and hid inside a nearby house.

Police said an officer and his K-9, Seabee, entered the house, and Mitchell began punching the officer.

Authorities said Seabee bit Mitchell's arm, so Mitchell punched the dog, too.

Seabee bit again, and another officer helped subdue Mitchell, police said.

In the end, police said Mitchell was not connected to the burglary.

The officer and Seabee suffered only minor injuries.
