Police: Man shoots, kills stepson in Port Orange

PORT ORANGE, Fla. — A man is accused of shooting his stepson, Port Orange police said.

The shooting happened Monday in the 6000 block of Shahab Lane at about 8 a.m.

Danny Holder, 68, shot and killed his stepson, Randall Lowen, police said.

Neighbor Dennis Egatz said he was shocked.

“They seemed like very, very nice people. I talked to them here and there periodically; hello and goodbye. That's pretty much about it. I’m shocked to hear what happened,” said Egatz.

Lowen's mother was home at the time, but was not hurt.

Neither a motive nor the circumstances surrounding the shooting have been released.
