Police seek to ID possible witness after skimmer found in Kissimmee ATM

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — The Kissimmee Police Department said Thursday that it seeks to identify a possible witness who might have information about a skimming device found in an ATM.

Police said a Michael Taaffee found the skimmer on Aug. 25 at a SunTrust Bank branch at North Main and West Oak streets while donating to an account created for the families of slain Kissimmee police Sgt. Sam Howard and Officer Matthew Baxter.

"The minute I heard the suction, I knew something was funny," Taaffee said.

Investigators said the witness, who is not Taaffee, has sleeve tattoos on both arms, might have information about whoever installed the skimmer.

It's unclear how long the skimmer was on the ATM, investigators said.

Anyone with information about the man is asked to call Crimeline at 407-423-8477 or Kissimmee police at 407-846-3333.

No other details were given.
