Police: Woman sexually assaulted outside library after being catcalled by man

TITUSVILLE, Fla. — A 22-year-old Titusville man is facing a sexual battery charge after a woman said she was assaulted by a stranger outside of the library on South Hopkins Avenue in September.

The victim told police it started when Gerald Williams made comments like, “Hey sexy,” and “You’re beautiful.”

The woman told police she told the man not to say those things to her, and said that’s when he pinned her against a wall.

She said the attacker managed to move her underwear aside and as she yelled “Stop,” she said the man told her to, “Just relax and enjoy yourself.”

Police said the woman kept what happened to herself, but when she spotted the same man again on Oct. 24, she alerted a library employee, who called police.

Investigators said Gerald Williams made some statements that put him at the library at the time of the alleged assault.

The man’s bond was set at $75,000.

Police said they’ve spoken with other library patrons and consider the assault an isolated incident.
