Polk County deputy distracts crying baby at restaurant so parents can eat

POLK COUNTY, Fla. — A Polk County sheriff’s deputy was getting some love online after helping out a couple having trouble with a crying baby while trying to eat dinner at a local restaurant.

On its Facebook page, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office posted a photo of Deputy Chris Brackin holding the baby, saying, “Apparently, the other person with no hair in the photo was keeping his parents from enjoying their meal.”

Brackin was eating at the restaurant Saturday night when he noticed the couple and stepped up to help.

“Seeing he could offer his help, Deputy Brackin asked if he could distract the little one while mom and dad finished their meal uninterrupted,” the sheriff’s office said. “It worked, and mom and dad were very grateful for the break.”

The reaction online was one full of adulation for the deputy.

“Above and beyond, and such a caring officer,” one person commented.
