SeaWorld ‘cautiously optimistic' killer whale health improving

Tilikum the killer whale

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — SeaWorld announced on Wednesday that Tilikum’s health is getting better day by day.

Tilikum has been monitored around the clock after he was diagnosed with a bacterial infection in his lungs in March.

Kelly Flaherty-Clark said in video posted on SeaWorld’s website that the killer whale has been showing progress the last three weeks, he’s starting to swim more and recently began playing with his toys.

Tilikum will continue to receive medication.

Tilikum has been at SeaWorld for more than two decades, and was responsible for the death of trainer Dawn Brancheau in 2010.
