Dozens of dogs from flooded shelters in Houston and Louisiana are now safe in Volusia County.
The Southeast Volusia Humane Society took in 35 dogs Sunday that were in Hurricane Harvey’s path.
The dogs, many of which are small breed, have been cleared for adoption.
The shelter took to Facebook to ask for donations, including towels, blankets and rugs.
Fosters may fill out paperwork from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the shelter Monday. When the dogs are available for adoption, the shelter will post info on its website or on its partner’s website, Sophie's Circle and Pawsibilities.
Harvey was downgraded to a tropical storm Saturday afternoon, but torrential rains still inundated parts of Texas, causing unprecedented flooding.
