SpaceX seeks to lease more land at Port Canaveral

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Port Canaveral commissioners will meet on Wednesday morning to vote on an agreement to lease a two-acre parcel to SpaceX for five years.

The land is adjacent to the company's rocket processing center near State Road 401 and Payne Way.

SpaceX said it plans to use the land to store rockets for refurbishment and reuse.

Port Canaveral CEO John Murray told Channel 9 earlier this year that the port's close proximity to the Kennedy Space Center and the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station could benefit its cargo customers.

"To have SpaceX... be one of our tenants and the port to be part of our process of the new age of space is really exciting for us," Murray said.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
