Spring break causes traveler boost at OIA

Updated:

ORLANDO, Fla. - Orlando International Airport officials are preparing for a huge boost in people traveling in and out of the airport Sunday because of spring break.

Officials said there is a 21 percent increase in the number of flights into Orlando and they expect about 10,000 extra travelers.

They said the spike in airport passenger traffic will rival traffic normally seen during the holidays.

The largest increase in passengers is coming from Southwest Airlines, which added 63 flights to its schedule.
