Surveillance video captures theft of nearly $10,000 from unlocked car at Orange County home

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — An Orange County family was still reeling this week after nearly $10,000 in cash was stolen from an unlocked car outside their home.

The theft, which happened at about 4:24 a.m. on July 29 in the gated Cypress Bend neighborhood, was captured by surveillance cameras.

It took the burglars less than three minutes to grab the cash and walk away.

Jenny Annette Torres told Channel 9 that her husband works several jobs and is often paid in cash.

On the night of the theft, he left the car unlocked with nearly $10,000 inside that he was planning to deposit the next day, she said.

"My husband was destroyed about it," Torres said. "I mean, we all were. And (July) 29 is a couple of days before you pay all your bills. So, you are just wondering, 'How are we going to do this?'

"We have children, and school gonna start soon, so we got everything right there."

Torres is hoping that someone will see the video of the burglars and recognize the individuals involved and report them to law enforcement.
