BOCA RATON, Fla. — A controversial display at a South Florida park has been removed after someone vandalized it overnight.
An English teacher who works at Boca Raton Middle School put up the “satanic display” at Sanborn Square Park earlier this month, Cox Media Group property, The Palm Beach Post reported.
The newspaper said that a sign above the pentagram once read, “In Satan we trust. One nation under Antichrist.”
The display sat near a Christmas tree and Biblical nativity scene.
Dozens of people had marched and demanded it be removed, calling the display evil.
But others said it's an expression of free speech.
The Palm Beach County School District Superintendent Robert Avossa said that since the teacher, Preston Smith, put up the display on his personal time there isn't much they can do, as long as he keeps it out of the classroom.
