Teen arrested in death of Orange County charity worker

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — An Orange County teenager was charged Wednesday in a local charity worker's death after nearly two weeks of police investigation.

Ken Kepple, 46, was found dead in his apartment in the 1900 block of Conway, police said.

The teen suspected of killing Kepple is Zachary Berry, 17, and details as to why he allegedly killed the nonprofit grocery store worker are being kept confidential, according to authorities.

Berry was arrested by Orlando police and was also charged with robbery, grand theft and assault with a weapon.

Channel 9 has not been able to obtain the arrest report due to the fact that Berry is in juvenile court, and Berry's mother avoided our questions after leaving the court.

Kepple started out as a volunteer and later became an important staff leader, according to the Community Food and Outreach Center.

Kepple's family lives in Pittsburgh and donated his belongings to the nonprofit.

The center said about 200 people attended his memorial service, a majority of them customers at the grocery store.

Berry is believed to already be in the juvenile detention center facing charges from another agency, according to a spokesperson.
