Teen killed, another injured in Ocoee shooting

OCOEE, Fla. — A teenage boy was killed and another teenage boy was injured early Sunday as they fled a large fight in an Ocoee parking lot, the Joint Homicide Investigation Team said.

Norris Adams, Jr., 17, was fatally shot in a parking lot shared by a McDonald's and a Walgreens at Ocoee Apopka and West roads at 12:15 a.m. as he rode in a red 2007 Mitsubishi car, investigators said.

A 16-year-old boy, who wasn't publicly identified, was also shot as he rode in the vehicle, but he's expected to recover from his injuries, police said.

"A large fight broke out in these connecting parking lots and numerous gunshots were fired," Orlando police Sgt. Daniel Brady said. "It appears the victims were attempting to leave the area when the suspect vehicle pulled up next to the victims’ car and fired numerous gunshots at the victims’ car."

Witnesses described the vehicle the gunman was riding in as a newer red Nissan or Chevy four-door, which was spotted fleeing on West Road toward State Road 429.

A security camera captured footage of the shooting, officials said.
