‘The city lost a hero,' Commissioner Hill says about death of OPD officer

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orlando Police Master Sgt. Debra Clayton was well-known in the community for her work with kids.

Orlando City Commissioner Regina Hill and Clayton worked closely together in District 5. Clayton was also a substitute liaison for Hill.

Hill said Clayton did a lot in the community to keep local students from falling into crime.

“I’m numb. I’m sad,” Hill said. “She was just a beautiful, beautiful, beautiful person. She took to me. She loved me.”

Hill said the last time she saw Clayton was on Thanksgiving. The two were handing out turkeys to members of the community.

Hill told Channel 9 that Clayton was a hero to her and to the youth throughout Orlando.

“She was someone who loved people. Loved the community,” Hill said.
