Trump during Sanford rally: 1st act in White House would repeal Obamacare

SANFORD, Fla. — The Democratic and Republican presidential candidates were both in Florida Tuesday to make a push for the battleground state with the Nov. 8 general election only two weeks away.

Republican billionaire Donald Trump made a stop in Sanford for a 3 p.m. rally, while Democrat Hillary Clinton will hold her own campaign event in Coconut Creek.

Hundreds of people lined up outside Million Air Aviation at Orlando-Sanford International Airport Tuesday to see Trump speak.

Donald Trump says his first presidential act would be to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

Trump told supporters at the rally in Sanford that he would immediately "ask Congress to put a bill on my desk to get rid of this disastrous" program, adding "it will be so easy."

The Republican presidential nominee has said he'd give people more choice over their insurance plans but has not offered much in the way of specifics.

Average premiums under President Barack Obama's signature health care law will jump sharply, potentially by 25 percent in popular plans before taxpayer subsidies kick in.

Trump has tried to seize upon the rate hike as a potent issue to reverse his slide over the campaign's final two weeks.

According to a CNN/ORC poll released Monday, Clinton is five points ahead of Trump heading into the election, but the Democratic candidate said she wasn’t going to get ahead of herself.

“You know, I am a little superstitious about that,” she said. “We have got a transition operation going and I haven’t really paid much attention to it yet.”

Trump, on the other hand, has been urging his supporters to share his message and encourage others to vote.

“Get your friends, your family, your coworkers out to vote so you can go vote today, you can go vote tomorrow, but get out to vote,” he said.

Early voting has started in many Florida counties.

After her event in Coconut Creek Tuesday, Clinton will attend events in Lake Worth and Tampa on Wednesday.

Trump will be heading to Tallahassee after his Sanford stop for a 6 p.m. campaign event.
