Still no suspects in fatal shootings near Mall at Millenia

ORLANDO, Fla. — Authorities are still investigating after a couple was shot inside an apartment near the Mall at Millenia Thursday evening.

On Friday, Channel 9's Kathi Belich talked with a witness who watched the shooting unfold from her apartment window at the Northbridge Apartment Complex.

Marluan Figueroa said she heard a woman cry for help but couldn't run down the stairs to her because she’s disabled.  She said all she could do was call 911.

“She said, ‘Please, help me. I've been shot. Please call 911,’” said Figueroa. “She walked. She was walking but limping. It was just a nightmare for all of us.”

The woman and a man were shot inside an apartment at the complex. The man was killed but the woman was able to make it outside to yell for help. Friday evening investigators identified the deceased as Martin Martinez, 28.

"I said, 'Ma'am, stay calm. They're coming. They're coming. Stay with me," said Figueroa. "'Look at me.'"

Figueroa said the woman told her, "I'm going to die. I feel like I'm dying. I feel numb."

Figueroa said she then saw paramedics arrive and begin treating the woman.

But police are still trying to figure out exactly what happened.

The woman was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where her condition is unknown.

Figueroa told WFTV she saw a man running away toward the Villages apartment complex, but police have not identified a suspect.

In the meantime, security has been increased at the apartment complex.

"Security can only do so much, and we're not armed to take care of ourselves, but it gets a little nerve wracking to know. I have my faith in God, so if it's my time it's my time, but I'd rather not right now," said security guard Tim Frey.
